Live Performance Report |
photo; Hatsumi (Vo.&Gt.), Ryotaro Imai
(Keyboard), and Haruka Okubo (Fl.) at Free Bird Cafe in Yokohama.
Hatsumi is so beautiful lady, sings her
original songs and Bossa Nova standards. Her music is so cool, but chord
progressions are very difficult to play. Hum..., I need more practicing for next
session with her.

January, 8th, 2007
Today, three of my students took Bossa
Nova lessons with Mr. Jun Kagami (Guitar) at my studio.
No.1, Nagano-san (P.M.2:00-3:00). She
played 'Agua De Beber' with nice solo !
No.2, Kashiwagi-san (P.M.3:00-4:00). She
played 'So Danco Samba'. She has good sense of rhythm, and played very well with
guitar. It's unbelievable that she first time played with Bossa Nova
guitar.
No.3 Akiyama-san (P.M.4:00-5:00). He plays
guitar and flute !!! Great !!!
I think each one was well down. I am looking forward to listen their solos
at the students concert in 25th February !

They are members of flute ensemble group ' Concert Lumiere '. They came
to our concert at Jazz club ' Farout ' in Yokohama. I have heard that they
played BFS Flute Convention in this summer. They said it was great time
to stay in England. So, I am looking forward to play in 2008 ! |

photo; Sonia ( Vo., on the left side ) and
me, after the concert.
We played Bossa Nova and Samba at Nochero
in Tokyo. Now, I often play with vocalists. I think playing obbligato is more
difficult than playing solo on the flute. I can learn a lot of things from
vocalists.

photo; Kashiwagi-san. She really likes my
CD (Thanks!), and try to copy my solos. (Thanks again!)
I think light music like Bossa Nova player
needs a kind of sense of arrangement. It's important to learn somebody's solo
parts, but someday I hope she can play her original solos too!
